ASO Hub Overview
The ASO (App Store Optimisation) hub is the home for everything related to how your app is found and ranked in the Shopify App Store. It has four tabs, each answering a different question.
The four tabs
| Tab | Answers the question… |
|---|---|
| Tracked Keywords | How are the specific keywords I care about performing today? |
| Keywords | What is my full search footprint — all keywords I appear in? |
| Categories | How do I rank in each category merchants browse? |
| Competitors | What are competing apps doing — and where are my gaps? |
Access the ASO hub via ASO in the sidebar. The hub opens on the Tracked Keywords tab by default.
Tracked Keywords
The Tracked tab is your day-to-day monitoring view. You choose which keywords to track, and Ranksy scrapes their rank daily. The table shows:
- Current rank with colour-coded change badges
- 24-hour and 7-day rank change
- 14-day trend sparkline
- 14-day pageviews and installs (requires BigQuery)
- Keyword intent and category badges
Use the movers filter (Gainers / Droppers / Big Moves) to quickly surface what changed. Switch the time window between 24h and 7d.
A quota bar at the top shows how many keywords you're tracking against your plan limit.
See Tracked Keywords for the full reference.
Keywords
The Keywords tab shows every keyword your app appears in — not just the ones you've explicitly tracked. Think of it as your organic search census. It shows:
- Current rank per keyword
- Change from the previous period
- Pageviews, clicks, installs, and conversion rate per keyword (requires BigQuery)
- Leaderboards: top keywords by pageviews, clicks, installs, and conversion rate
Use this tab to discover high-performing terms you didn't know about and decide which to promote to your Tracked list.
See Keywords (ASO) for the full reference.
Categories
The Categories tab shows your ranking in every Shopify App Store category your app is listed in. Each category shows:
- Average rank, best rank, worst rank, and rank volatility
- Historical rank chart (inverted y-axis — rising line = improving)
- Category sessions table with traffic and conversion metrics (requires BigQuery)
- Geographic, device, and source breakdowns per category
Use this tab after an app update to see whether category rankings respond, and to identify which categories drive the most install-qualified traffic.
See Categories (ASO) for the full reference.
Competitors
The Competitors hub is a separate set of pages accessible from the sidebar under ASO → Competitors. It has five sections:
- Activity — recent reviews, listing updates, and ranking changes from the apps you follow
- Ad Presence — which apps are running sponsored ads on your tracked keywords and categories
- Keyword Gaps — keywords where competitors rank or advertise but you don't
- Review Insights — AI-analysed pain points and feature opportunities from competitor reviews
- Manage — follow and unfollow competitor apps
You need to follow at least one app via Manage to unlock the full Competitors hub. Following is private.
See Competitors Hub for the full reference.
How the tabs connect
A typical ASO workflow:
- Keywords → discover terms you're ranking for but haven't tracked
- Tracked → add those terms to your tracked list, monitor daily
- Competitors → Keyword Gaps → find additional terms competitors rank for that you don't
- Categories → check whether your listing updates improved category rank alongside keyword rank
- Competitors → Review Insights → understand what merchants say about competing apps to inform your listing copy
All rank data updates daily overnight. Traffic data (pageviews, installs, conversion) requires BigQuery and updates daily with a 24–48 hour lag from GA4 export.
