Signal Prominence
Not every signal category is equally important for every app. If you have competitors that copy frequently, you want
Copycats signals front and center. If you're in a stable category with few ranking changes, Rankings noise may not be
worth your attention. Signal Prominence lets you tune each category so the Signal Brief surfaces what matters most to
you.
Where to find it
1. Go to Monitoring in the sidebar.
2. Click the Preferences tab.
3. Scroll to the Signal categories section.
Each of the six signal categories (Revenue, Rankings, Copycats, Reviews, Goals, Listing changes) has a three-way
control.
The three prominence settings
Default
The standard behaviour. Signals from this category are placed in Attention Required if they're high-severity, or On the
Radar if they're lower-severity. This is the right setting for most categories most of the time.
Promote
Everything from this category is treated as high-severity — even signals that would normally be On the Radar get lifted
into Attention Required. Use Promote when you want to make sure you never miss anything from a specific category, even
minor events.
✅ When to Promote: You've just launched a major update and want every review flagged as critical until the dust settles.
Or you've spotted a rise in copycats and want to monitor that category closely.
Mute
The category is entirely hidden from the Signal Brief. Ranksy will not collect signals for muted categories, and they
won't appear in Quiet either. Use Mute for categories that genuinely don't apply to your situation.
✅ When to Mute: Your app doesn't track Goals (no goal set up), or you've deliberately decided not to monitor a category
at this time.
⚠️ Prominence controls on-screen display, not email delivery. Promote lifts a signal into Attention Required in the
brief; it doesn't change when or whether you receive an email notification. Email delivery is configured separately in
the notification settings on the same Preferences page.
Per-user setting
Signal prominence is saved per user, not per team. If you and a colleague both use the same Ranksy team account, you can
each have different prominence settings without affecting each other's Signal Brief.
Changing a setting
1. On the Preferences tab, find the category you want to adjust.
2. Click Promote, Default, or Mute.
3. The change saves immediately — no submit button required.
4. Navigate to Today to see the updated Signal Brief.
FAQ
Q: I muted a category by mistake. How do I undo it? A: Go to Preferences, find the category, and click Default or
Promote to restore it. The next load of the Signal Brief will include that category again.
Q: Does Muting affect other team members? A: No. Prominence settings are per-user. Your colleague's Signal Brief is
unaffected.
Q: If I Promote a category, will I get more emails? A: No. Prominence only affects how signals appear on-screen in the
brief. Email delivery frequency is a separate setting.
Q: What happens to signals from a muted category in the History tab? A: The History tab shows the full notification log,
which is unaffected by prominence settings. Muting a category only suppresses it from the Today view.
