Monitoring History and Preferences

The Monitoring hub has three tabs: Today (the Signal Brief), History, and Preferences. History gives you the full notification log; Preferences is where you configure signal prominence and notification delivery.

The History tab

What it shows

The History tab is a paginated log of every notification Ranksy has sent to your account, in reverse chronological order. Each entry shows:

  • Title — a short description of what happened
  • Message — additional detail
  • Time — when the notification was generated
  • Read status — unread notifications are visually distinguished from read ones

Click any notification to mark it read and follow its deep link to the relevant page.

When to use History

The History tab is useful when you want to:

  • Look up a specific event that happened several days ago and is no longer in the Signal Brief window
  • Confirm that a notification was generated for a known event
  • Review the full notification stream for a period you were away

History covers all notification types: Signal Brief signals, review alerts, ranking change alerts, copycat detections, and system announcements. It is not filtered by your Signal Prominence settings — a muted category's individual notifications still appear in History if they were sent before you muted it.

Pagination

History loads 20 notifications per page. Use the pagination controls at the bottom of the list to navigate further back.

The Preferences tab

The Preferences tab is where you configure both signal prominence and individual notification delivery.

Signal categories

The top section shows the six Signal Brief categories with their current prominence setting (Promote / Default / Mute). See Signal Prominence for how to use these controls.

Notification delivery settings

Below signal categories, the Preferences tab lists individual notification types:

Group Notification types
Your apps New reviews, ranking changes, copycat detected
Followed apps New reviews, ranking changes, app updates

For each notification type you can configure:

  • Enabled / disabled — whether to receive this notification at all
  • Channel — in-app (database) only, or in-app + email
  • Frequency — Instant, Daily digest, or Weekly digest

💡 The frequency setting controls how individual notifications are batched. Setting a review notification to "Daily digest" means you receive one email per day summarising all new reviews, rather than an email per review. This is separate from the Signal Brief email digest.

Email digest for revenue signals

Revenue and churn signals are delivered through the Signal Brief, not as individual notifications. To receive them by email, configure the Signal Brief digest in the Email digest section at the bottom of the Preferences page (or see Signal Brief email digest).

FAQ

Q: I can't find a notification I received last week. Where is it? A: Go to History and paginate back. Notifications stay in the log indefinitely.

Q: Can I delete notifications from History? A: No. The History tab is a read-only audit log.

Q: I changed my email address. Will notifications go to the new address? A: Yes. Notifications use the email address on your Ranksy account. Update your email in Account Settings and all future notification emails will go to the new address.

Q: The "Preferences" tab shows notification types I don't care about. How do I turn them off? A: Use the Enabled toggle next to each notification type to disable it entirely, or change the channel to "in-app only" to suppress email without disabling the notification.
