Revenue Overview

Knowing whether your app's revenue is growing, stable, or at risk is the starting point for every growth decision you make. The Revenue hub gives you a single place to track all of it — from top-line MRR to per-merchant subscription history — powered entirely by your Shopify Partner API data.

Prerequisite: Connect your Partner API

Revenue data requires an active Partner API connection. If you haven't set this up yet, see Connect Partner API. After connecting, allow a few minutes for the initial sync to complete before your metrics populate.

How the Revenue hub is structured

Revenue is a hub — a top-level section with its own tab bar. Click Revenue in the sidebar to open the Overview, then use the tabs to drill deeper:

Tab What it shows
Overview Top-line metrics: MRR, ARPU, active merchants, net installs, earnings
Earnings Gross and net earnings timeline; Shopify fee breakdown
Subscriptions Active subscriptions, per-plan count and MRR, plan movement events
Churn Logo and revenue churn rates at 7 / 30 / 90 / 365-day windows
NRR Net Revenue Retention over a starting-cohort base
Trials Trial conversion rate and active-trial count (visible when your app uses trials)
Installations Net installs, first-touch attribution
Customers Full merchant list with subscription status and transaction history
LTV Net Lifetime Value, capped at 60 months, by plan

Overview metrics

The Overview tab (the hub landing) shows your most important headline numbers at a glance.

MRR (Monthly Recurring Revenue)

Your total MRR from active paid subscriptions on the selected date. Trends show day-over-day movement over the period. A steady upward slope is healthy; a flat line usually means acquisition and churn are roughly balanced.

ARPU (Average Revenue Per User)

MRR divided by your count of paying merchants. Rising ARPU means customers are moving up-plan or you're attracting higher-value shops; falling ARPU is an early signal of plan-mix drift.

Active merchants

The count of merchants with an active paid or trialing installation at the end of the period. This is a stock metric — it reflects the state today, not flows into or out of it.

Net installs

Installs minus uninstalls for the period. Positive = growing your installed base; negative = you're losing ground faster than you're gaining it.

Earnings

Gross revenue earned from Shopify, net of the Shopify platform fee. The fee percentage varies by your Partner tier, so Ranksy reads the actual amounts from your Partner API rather than applying an assumed rate.

Comparison mode

All Revenue tabs support a date picker with an optional comparison period. Enable Compare to overlay the previous equivalent period on every chart, so you can see whether this month's trend is better or worse than last month's.

Data freshness

Revenue data is ingested daily from your Shopify Partner API. Shopify sometimes back-dates events (for example, when a charge processes a day after subscription activation), which is why the nightly sync re-processes a rolling window of recent history rather than appending new events only.

⚠️ Minor discrepancies between Ranksy and your Shopify Partner Dashboard are normal and typically less than 1%. They are caused by time-zone cutoffs and Shopify's own back-dating of charge events. If you see a persistent large gap, trigger a manual re-sync from Settings → Integrations.

FAQ

Q: Revenue tab is empty — what's wrong? A: Confirm your Partner API integration is connected and the initial sync is complete. Check Settings → Integrations for sync status.

Q: Why does MRR differ from my Partner Dashboard total? A: Small differences (< 1%) come from time-zone cutoffs. If the gap is larger, use the manual re-sync in Settings → Integrations.

Q: Can I track multiple apps in Revenue? A: Yes. Each app in your account has its own Revenue hub. Use the app selector in the top navigation to switch between apps.

Q: What's included in MRR? A: All recurring (monthly or annual-normalized) paid subscriptions. One-time charges appear in Earnings but not in MRR.
